What a ride it has been so far at Billet Proof Designs! We really can't believe where the motorcycle industry has gone in the last 6-10 years. While brands like Harley Davidson are seeing slumping sales of new bikes, there has been a revolution of sorts in the custom motorcycle scene.
The 80s through the early 2000s was a time of the mainstream motorcycle movement. It was no longer a badass outlaw who rode a bike. As they were assimilated into accepted society, this unfortunately meant that the custom motorcycle scene, as well as the love for vintage, took a bit of a backseat. Instead it was over-designed, over-engineered plastic shells that lost all of the soul and character of earlier motorcycles.
What we are experiencing as an industry now is truly magnificent. It’s as if some influential builder stopped, turned their head around and said, “Wait, we have MILLIONS of bikes just sitting around doing nothing now. Let’s get to work!”. This documentary looks to be something special that captures the heart and essence of why we motorcycle builders have finally come into our time!
Oil In The Blood is the first film to document the builders, riders and artists who are driving the scene forward. It’s directed by Gareth Maxwell Roberts, a founding member of the Bike Shed club in London
